Turkey is a Dangerous Country, Says German Journalists' Association
“Turkey is not a safe country for journalists.” This statement was released by the German Journalists' Association on August 14, according to Ermenihaber.am.
Specifically, the association has urged journalists not to travel to Turkey for either work or tourism purposes. The website notes that such a statement from the German association is related to the recent arrest of German MP Gökay Akbulut in Turkey: “This latest incident once again demonstrated that Erdoğan views those who criticize his dictatorship as enemies of the state.”
It should be recalled that the German female MP was arrested on August 3 at Ankara Airport during a passport check due to her social media posts. However, following the intervention of the German Foreign Ministry, she was released and returned to her homeland.
