South Korean President Offers Economic Aid to North Korea in Exchange for Denuclearization
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol aims to implement the initiative he proposed last year and rebuild North Korea’s economy if Pyongyang takes steps to abandon its nuclear weapons. This information comes from Russian media outlets referencing a report by Yonhap.
In his speech marking the anniversary of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula from Japanese rule, Yoon Suk Yeol stated that he is diligently working on this initiative. “We will continue to work with the international community to persuade the North Korean authorities to abandon their nuclear and missile programs and choose the path of dialogue and cooperation, which will improve the lives of the country's population,” Yonhap quoted the president as saying.
At the same time, Yoon Suk Yeol mentioned that to eliminate the “missile-nuclear threat” from North Korea, real-time data exchange regarding Pyongyang’s missiles is necessary among South Korea, Japan, and the United States.
