Prosecutor in Robert Kocharyan's Case Enters Prosecutor General's Office Demanding Respect

Petros Petrosyan, the prosecutor of Kotayk region, entered the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia on May 30 and demanded respect. This is reported by the newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak.'

As is known, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia dismissed the prosecutor of Armavir region, Ashot Martirosyan, and the prosecutor of Kotayk region, Apres Grigoryan, following a wiretap incident where they referred to a national security service investigator as a 'fool' and spoke disrespectfully of their superior.

It turns out that prior to the dismissal of these prosecutors, there were significant developments in the Kotayk regional prosecutor's office. According to the newspaper, after the wiretap, officers from the National Security Service (NSS) entered the office of the now-former prosecutor Apres Grigoryan and conducted a search. There are reports in the system that NSS employees not only disrupted the office but also allegedly tortured the prosecutor.

Staff at the Prosecutor General's Office have silently tolerated this conduct by law enforcement towards the systems. An exceptional case took place at the initiative of Petros Petrosyan, the prosecutor of Kotayk region. The newspaper has learned that Petrosyan went to the Prosecutor General's Office and demanded respect to humiliate his fellow prosecutors.

This action was not accepted within the system, and the following day he was contacted and informed that Anna Vardapetyan had dismissed him from the position of Kotayk regional prosecutor and transferred him to a lower position, prompting Petros Petrosyan to submit his resignation and leave the system.

Petros Petrosyan had filed an objection regarding one of the criminal cases, and an internal investigation was initiated against him for opposing the leadership; however, the case was later closed. After entering the Prosecutor General's Office and raising a commotion, he was demoted in an attempt to punish him.

The newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak' sought a comment from Petros Petrosyan, who, after hearing the question, said, 'I do not comment.'
