Ultraviolet Radiation Intensity Above Normal: Warning to Citizens

Starting from August 10, a powerful heat wave is penetrating Armenia from the Arabian Peninsula, which will bring a sharp increase in temperature of about 4-6 degrees compared to today.

From August 10 to 13, the highest temperatures in the Ararat Valley and Yerevan are expected to reach up to +40...+42 degrees during the afternoon from 16:00 to 18:00.

High fire risk situations are also expected in Yerevan, the Ararat Valley, the foothills of Aragat, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, and in the valleys of Syunik and Tavush during this period.

The intensity of ultraviolet radiation in the Ararat Valley, Kotayk, the high-altitude regions of Aragat, Shirak, and Tavush is expected to be above normal from August 7 to 8.

It is advised to avoid direct sunlight from 11:00 to 17:00.

In the territory of the Republic, short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected in some regions after noon on August 7, with the possibility of hail in certain areas. From August 8 to 12, dry weather is anticipated.

The wind will be easterly at 2-4 m/s, with intensification expected during thunderstorms up to 17-20 m/s.

The air temperature is expected to gradually rise by 4-6 degrees from August 7 to 11.

In Yerevan, short-term rain and thunderstorms may occur in some areas of the city during the evening hours of August 7. From August 8 to 12, dry weather is anticipated. Wind intensification is expected in the evenings on August 7-9, reaching speeds of 12-14 m/s.
