Yerevan Municipality Responds to Appointment of Sos Janibekyan as Director of Mher Mkrtchyan Theater

The Yerevan Municipality has responded to reports circulating about the appointment of actor Sos Janibekyan as the director of the 'Mher Mkrtchyan' artistic theater.

In an interview with Auroranews, the press secretary of the Yerevan Mayor, Hayk Kostanyan, stated that a competition must first be announced for the appointment of the theater director. Candidates must participate in the competition, and the winner will assume the director's duties based on the decision of the Yerevan Mayor.

'There is no competition yet, nor is there a list of participants; therefore, the information that Sos Janibekyan has been appointed as the director of the 'Mher Mkrtchyan' theater is not true,' Kostanyan noted.

It is worth mentioning that earlier media reports had suggested that actor Sos Janibekyan would indeed be appointed as the director of the 'Mher Mkrtchyan' artistic theater. Janibekyan did not deny the news and indicated that it is still under discussion.
