Turkey's Foreign Ministry: Armenia Should Recognize Azerbaijan's Territorial Integrity

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has addressed the issue of the Lachin corridor and issued a statement.

In the statement, it is particularly noted: “Turkey is closely monitoring the ongoing debates regarding the Lachin road and understands Azerbaijan’s legitimate concerns on the matter. Unfortunately, these concerns, which Azerbaijan has been raising for a long time, were not taken into account, and as a result, Azerbaijan has taken measures that it deems appropriate within the framework of its sovereign rights.

Turkey believes that the criticisms directed at Azerbaijan regarding the Lachin road are unjustified. The fact that medical crossings are currently provided along the Lachin road, as well as other routes suitable for the transportation of large-scale materials, indicates that the Azerbaijani side is making maximum efforts in good faith.

We expect Armenia to refrain from provocative actions, recognize Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, support alternative routes to Agdam-Khankendi to meet the needs of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, and assist in the reintegration efforts of Azerbaijan’s Armenian population.

Turkey believes that in order to ensure peace and stability in the region, it is necessary to support the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and humanitarian efforts of our friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan, and to avoid actions that escalate the situation.”

It should be reminded that Azerbaijan has blocked the Lachin corridor for already 264 days.
