I Am Shocked by the News of the Tragic Accident in Shirak Province: Pashinyan

According to preliminary information, the two vehicles involved in the accident in Shirak Province had both passed technical inspection and had valid compulsory insurance contracts, and the drivers possessed valid driving licenses. The answers to remaining questions will be provided by the investigation. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his Facebook page.

“I am shocked by the news of the tragic accident that occurred in Shirak Province. Road safety is among the government's priorities. In the context of the continuously increasing number of vehicles, the number of road traffic accident victims decreased in 2022 compared to 2021.

According to preliminary information, the two vehicles involved in the accident in Shirak Province also had both technical inspections and valid insurance contracts, and the drivers had valid licenses. The investigation will provide answers to the remaining questions.

Additional measures are being taken and will be undertaken to enhance road safety, which may include more effective implementation and monitoring of work, technical, and road standards,” he wrote.

The Prime Minister also expressed condolences to the families of all victims of traffic accidents.

It should be noted that earlier it was reported that on August 14, at approximately 00:20, a tragic accident occurred on the Gyumri-Yerevan road. In the administrative area of Lanjik village, a Volkswagen passenger minibus collided with a ZIL truck driven by 33-year-old H.P. Eleven people lost their lives in the accident.
