Joe Biden's Son Could Become Involved in Criminal Case

The United States Attorney General Merrick Garland has announced the appointment of David Weiss as special counsel in the investigation involving President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, according to the AP agency. The Attorney General stated that this appointment will provide a new impetus to the investigation that has been ongoing since 2020.

Biden's 54-year-old son is suspected of violating laws aimed at preventing tax evasion and money laundering during dealings with foreign, primarily Chinese, businessmen.

Additionally, American sources indicate that Joseph Biden's son is suspected of providing false testimony related to one of the gun sale transactions, in which Hunter Biden was involved. Previously, it was reported that the president's son had sought a deal in connection with the investigation by admitting guilt regarding tax fraud.

Later, CNN noted that the pretrial agreement had been reviewed, and the deal was reinstated in a limited form. According to the television network, both the prosecution and defense agreed that the deal would cover the period from 2014 to 2019 and would only pertain to issues related to tax violations, drug use, and gun possession.
