Turkey Has Never Been an Ally of Russia and Isn't Now: Konstantin Zatulin
Turkey has never been an ally of Russia, and it is not now, despite the friendship between the two presidents. This was stated by politician and State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin during an interview.
“We must not lose our sober analysis of what is happening in Turkey, just as they should not forget our interests. Turkey has its interests, and they have always existed; they are not going anywhere,” he noted.
The politician pointed out that Turkey is striving toward the Caucasus, aiming for the Caspian Sea, and building relationships with the Turkic peoples of the Russian Federation and even Yakutia, bypassing Russia. Turkey is trying to reconstruct the former Soviet Central Asia for itself and has now begun to show interest in Altai, establishing connections with Mongolia, etc.
This aligns with the ideology of Turkey's modern leadership, which seeks to create a great Turan. They are our competitors; integration either takes place around Moscow or around Ankara.
