"The Poles Are Not Foolish and Understand Everything Perfectly": Lukashenko Calls for Dialogue with Poland

We need to talk with the Poles. I have instructed the Prime Minister to get in touch with them. If they want, let’s talk and establish relations. This was stated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting with the working collectives of organizations located in the area of the Minsk National Airport, as reported by Belta.

“We are neighbors, and neighbors are not chosen. But they have parliamentary elections on October 15, and of course, they need to heat things up, to escalate the situation, to show that they are right in arming and rearming the country. Therefore, until October 15, they are unlikely to make any significant changes that would be beneficial for them and for us. They demand a lot from us and ask for many things, but we cannot agree to that, as it would contradict our interests,” he emphasized.

Lukashenko added that Poland is not instigating the situation in the region by itself; it is being prompted by the United States. “The Americans have made calculations based on Poland. But the Poles are not foolish people. They are our people, they are Slavs. They understand everything perfectly. Let’s be patient and see. We are open to cooperation,” Lukashenko stated.
