Issue of Prime Minister's Participation in Campaign Still Under Discussion
The question of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's participation in the campaign for the city council elections is actively being discussed within the 'Civil Contract' party these days. The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that both Pashinyan and the majority within the party prefer that the Prime Minister personally participate in the campaign, touring the streets of Yerevan with his teammates and urging citizens to vote for Tigran Avinyan. However, some members of the party believe that Pashinyan's participation may have the opposite effect.
Government sources have informed the newspaper that all deputies will actively participate in the campaign, currently dividing up which deputy will campaign in which administrative region. 'Zhoghovurd' reached out to the electoral headquarters of the Civil Contract to clarify who will be conducting the campaign and whether Nikol Pashinyan will personally participate. The headquarters responded, 'We are currently determining the format of the campaign and have just begun our work, while the Prime Minister's participation is still under discussion.'
