Azerbaijani Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison for Spying on Behalf of Armenia
An Azerbaijani, Haji Pashayev, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for spying on behalf of Armenia.
According to Azerbaijani media, he has been accused of “state treason,” “public calls against the state,” and “inciting national, racial, and religious hatred.”
As per the indictment, in October 2016, Haji Pashayev secretly cooperated with Armenian special services through Azer Kaimov. Under Kaimov's instructions, Pashayev published posts on Facebook aimed at inciting ethnic, interethnic disputes and promoting hatred.
