Sarkhat Petrosyan: 'Even during the most outrageous period of Yerevan's development, there was a red line.'

During the most outrageous period of Yerevan's development (2004-2012), there was still a red line to maintain the silhouette of Republic Square, especially the Government building. This was stated by the former head of the State Cadastre Committee, Sarkhat Petrosyan, on his Facebook page.

Petrosyan noted that since 2020, the government has promoted a controversial project in the Firdusi area (Block 33) at the highest level in terms of urban planning, architecture, and social aspects, and at that time, he was already warning about the risks of distorting Republic Square and proposing balanced solutions.

“Here, please, the result... The first buildings are sprouting behind the Government building,” he wrote.

According to Sarkhat Petrosyan, the upcoming elections are not only about saving the country and Artsakh, but also a choice between balanced development and wild development/construction.

“So let’s orient ourselves correctly and demand the candidates' positions on this specific construction project,” he added.
