A shark attacked a Ukrainian immigrant who had recently arrived from Odesa while at a beach in New York. The incident occurred on August 8, and it has been reported that 65-year-old Tatiana is in critical condition, having lost nearly 9 kg of flesh from her body.

The New York Post reports that authorities have since closed the famous Rockaway Beach. Notably, this incident marks the first shark attack at this beach since 1953.
