VIDEO: Will the Yerevan Elections Be Fair? Citizens Respond
Is the position of the Mayor of Yerevan a political office or a managerial position? According to the latest data, 48.5% of people believe it is a managerial role, while 41.5% consider it a political one, and 10% of respondents found it difficult to answer this question. This was stated by Aram Navasaradyan, the director of GALLUP International Association in Armenia, during a press conference held on August 9.
The research was conducted through telephone surveys with a sample size of 809 respondents.
He also announced what percentage of the respondents believe that the upcoming elections for the Yerevan Council will be fair. “16% of the respondents believe the council elections will be fair, while 32% disagree,” Navasaradyan reported.
“19.2% of respondents indicated they will not participate in the upcoming elections, 11% stated they will vote for no one, while 33.4% found it difficult to respond to this question,” Navasaradyan added and noted that garbage collection and transportation issues are the most important concerns for the respondents.
