Azerbaijan in Hysteria: Appeals Made to Lithuania's Foreign Ministry, Accusing of Partiality
Baku has urged Lithuania's Foreign Minister not to succumb to what it claims is Armenian propaganda. The head of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry press service, Aghan Hajizade, responded to a Twitter post by Lithuania's Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
"The Armenian side has abused the Lachin corridor for the past three years. Unfortunately, Lithuania has remained silent during all these years. To prevent Armenia’s malicious actions, Azerbaijan has established a checkpoint at Lachin and proposed using the Aghdam-Stepanakert road for supplies. Meanwhile, by its decision on July 6, the International Court of Justice unanimously rejected Armenia’s request to remove the checkpoint. Azerbaijan is facilitating the movement of Armenian residents in both directions. It would be more appropriate to call on Armenia to adopt a more constructive approach rather than disrupt the peace process," Hajizade wrote on his Twitter microblog.
It is noteworthy that today, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a phone conversation with Lithuania's Foreign Minister, who expressed concern over the terrible humanitarian consequences of the blockade of the Lachin corridor and emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring unhindered movement.
