VIDEO: Mass Brawl in Athens Between Football Club Fans Results in Death and Injuries

A mass brawl occurred in the Nea Philadelphia neighborhood of Athens, Greece, between fans of the Greek club AEK and the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb. This was reported by Greek ERT television.

The violent clash, which took place in the evening, resulted in one death and eight injuries. Dinamo Zagreb fans arrived in Greece despite a UEFA ban on their presence at the match against AEK.

According to reports, a group of 150-200 Dinamo fans arrived in Greece by car. The deceased fan and the eight injured are tragic evidence of the bloody incident caused by the hooligans from Dinamo Zagreb. The 22-year-old victim sustained multiple stab wounds and subsequently died. Among the injured are minors who suffered head injuries from being struck with stones.

Police detained 96 individuals, with 88 currently held at the Attica police headquarters. Eight victims are hospitalized.

Among those arrested are 82 Croatians, one Austrian, one Bosnian, one Albanian, one German, and two Greeks.

Numerous shop windows and vehicles were damaged due to Croatian hooliganism, which also included the burning of trash cans and branches near the parking lot and the smashing of car windshields.
