VIDEO: Intense Fires in Portugal, Approximately 1500 People Evacuated
In the Odemira administrative region of southern Portugal, a raging fire has led to the evacuation of at least 14,700 people, with 22 reported injuries. This information was reported by the 20minutos newspaper, citing the commander of civil protection.
The fire has been burning since August 5. According to civil protection representatives, four of the injured, three of whom are firefighters, required hospitalization. However, none of the affected individuals are in serious condition.
As of August 7, the firefighting efforts involved 800 firefighters, 266 vehicles, and 10 aircraft. Operations have been carried out over an area of 6.7 hectares. It has also been noted that anomalous heat has been recorded in the Iberian Peninsula.
