VIDEO: Azerbaijani Man Who Committed Murder in Armenia Granted Access to Family
Representatives of the Red Cross have visited two Azerbaijani citizens, Agshin Babirov and Huseyn Akhundov, who crossed into Armenia's territory in the spring. The two have been granted the opportunity to communicate with their families, as reported by the Azerbaijani state news agency APA, citing a representative of the Red Cross mission in Azerbaijan.
"According to the protocols of the Red Cross, observations and recommendations regarding visits have been communicated only to the detaining party," stated officials from the international organization.
It is noted that Azerbaijani servicemen who infiltrated the Syunik region from Nakhchivan in April are accused of illegally crossing the border and transporting weapons and military equipment across the state border. One of the servicemen, Agshin Babirov, was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison in early May. The second serviceman, Huseyn Akhundov, was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The latter was found guilty of killing 56-year-old Hayrapet Meliksetyan, an employee of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine's security. The Azerbaijani side claimed that the servicemen were lost. Earlier, Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that the Azerbaijanis had crossed the border due to being under pressure in their military unit.
