Turkish Authorities Consider Diversion Theory Among Causes of Port Explosion
Turkish authorities are considering the possibility of sabotage as a cause for the explosion that occurred at the Derince port. However, they believe the likelihood of this theory is low. This was reported by Turkish media, referencing the head of Turkey's Grain Council, Ahmet Güldalı.
“This is a port area, and no one can enter without security checks, whether it's a civil servant, worker, or the owner of the enterprise. All theories will be considered, of course, but the likelihood of sabotage is less,” he stated.
Recall that on August 7, it was reported that a powerful explosion erupted near Turkey’s major commercial Derince port (located in the Sea of Marmara). At least 12 people were injured as a result of the incident. It was later clarified that the explosion occurred near a lift during the loading of grain onto a ship.
