Legendary Voice Actor Leonid Volodarsky Dies
Leonid Volodarsky, a renowned translator, writer, and radio host, has passed away in Moscow at the age of 72. This was reported by the radio station 'Moscow Speaking,' where he worked.
He died after a prolonged illness.
Volodarsky was born on May 20, 1950, in Moscow and graduated from the Maurice Thorez Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages. He specialized in translating literary works from English and was among the first to translate the works of Stephen King.
He also taught, worked as a radio host, and was employed at the Institute of African Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and later at the Institute of International Labor Movement.
He is best known for his translations and voice dubbing in films. Volodarsky translated approximately 5,000 films, providing voiceovers and dubbing. His most notable works include dubbing for 'The Godfather,' 'Star Wars,' and 'Die Hard.'
