Abduction of Medical Worker Under Red Cross Protection is Unacceptable and Must be Condemned: MFA Spokesperson
The abduction of a medical worker under the protection of the International Committee of the Red Cross is unacceptable and must be condemned. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ani Badalyan, on her microblog on X (formerly Twitter).
"Armenia values the humanitarian role of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Nagorno-Karabakh, and we emphasize that the constant obstruction of this activity by Azerbaijan, as well as the abduction of the patient under its protection, are unacceptable and must be condemned," Badalyan wrote.
She highlighted that more than 1,760 people in Artsakh are deprived of medical assistance, and thousands lack adequate medication.
It is worth recalling that Vagif Khachatryan, a 68-year-old citizen of Artsakh, was abducted on July 29 at an illegal checkpoint established in the Lachin corridor while he was en route to Yerevan for medical assistance with the accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
