“They Disrespect Our Sovereignty”: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Responds to UN Rapporteurs’ Call to Open Lachin

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has stated that “UN bodies are becoming instruments of political manipulation,” in response to the call from UN special rapporteurs to open the Lachin corridor.

“It is unacceptable for these individuals to use expressions such as ‘Nagorno-Karabakh’ in their statements, to interfere in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs, and to apply double standards while failing to respect Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement read.

“Currently, Azerbaijan is making efforts to achieve sustainable peace and security in the region, proposing initiatives for a peace agreement, delimitation, and the opening of communications. Instead of supporting these efforts, ‘biased statements’ will not contribute to the peace process,” the ministry emphasized.
