Mother of 6 from Artsakh Struggles to Transfer Cancer-Stricken Child to Yerevan Due to Blockade
A mother of six, Anush Andryan from Artsakh, is unable to transfer her 9-year-old daughter, who has cancer, to Yerevan for essential examinations due to the blockade.
"The child needs tests and constant monitoring, but we currently cannot move her to Yerevan for that. The last examination was done in November, but it needs to be done every three months; otherwise, the disease will resurface," Anush reports.
The family has approached the Red Cross, but they were told that only one child can be transferred, and there would be no one to care for the other children, as Anush's husband is a serviceman.
"My child needs fruits, meat, but we have nothing. Right now, I have only bread, jam juice, tomatoes, and a pepper in my fridge. There is nothing to feed them. We wait for hours for a kilo of grapes, but it is still uncertain if we can even buy it. We go for bread once a day, leaving at one and returning at five. Yesterday, we took nine loaves of bread, but I went with only two of my children because they wouldn’t give us more than that amount," she noted.
