Collection of School Backpacks in Artsakh
At the beginning of each school year, the Artsakh Ministry of Education would provide first-graders with backpacks filled with essential school supplies. However, due to the closure of the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, the Lachin corridor, it is not possible to organize the traditional program for this academic year. This was reported by the Artsakh Ministry of Education and Science, which stated:
“Considering the shortage of school backpacks in stores, the Ministry is conducting a backpack collection campaign called 'Light's Backpack.' As part of this initiative, collection points for backpacks have been established in all schools in the capital and regions. Those who have relatively good condition extra school backpacks at home can take them to the school nearest to their residence. Additionally, those who have first-grade ABC books in good condition can also donate them at the school collection points.”
Apart from its social aspect, the 'Light's Backpack' campaign also has a symbolic nature, representing a call for mutual assistance in besieged Artsakh, overcoming challenges together, and spreading the light of kindness and knowledge.
