Scholz Urged to Transfer 'Taurus' Long-Range Missiles to Ukraine

Andreas Schwarz, a member of the Bundestag from Germany's Social Democratic Party, has called on Chancellor Olaf Scholz to transfer 'Taurus' long-range cruise missiles to Kyiv. He made these remarks in an interview with Der Spiegel, according to TASS.

The lawmaker stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive is not progressing rapidly, and the Ukrainian army lacks significant air support. He elaborated, "Only guided weapons remain, such as the 'Taurus' cruise missiles, which can help the Ukrainian army overcome the minefields created by the Russians and reclaim territory."

Schwarz believes Berlin is wasting time by refusing to supply cruise missiles, similar to its initial hesitation regarding tank deliveries. In response to concerns from German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius about the potential use of 'Taurus' within Russian territory, the lawmaker reminded that the Ukrainian armed forces already possess means to strike targets in Russia, namely the 'Mars' and 'HIMARS' artillery systems.
