Azerbaijan Fired Three Times Towards Kapan Airport, NSS Reports

Azerbaijani forces have fired towards Kapan's "Syunik" airport. This was reported by the National Security Service of Armenia.

"On the night of August 18, at 04:24, an unknown individual, arriving in an unclarified vehicle from the Azerbaijani side, fired three shots towards Kapan's 'Syunik' airport, located adjacent to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in the Syunik region, and then left," the statement reads.

Two of the bullets damaged one of the airport's windows and its roof.

The NSS has called on Azerbaijani authorities to properly investigate the incident and to take measures to prevent a recurrence of such events.

The border troops of the NSS are prepared for a joint investigation and/or to provide relevant video footage to the Azerbaijani side.

It should be noted that after the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the withdrawal of Armenian forces, Azerbaijani military personnel have been stationed just a few dozen meters from Kapan airport's runway.
