Venezuelan President Accuses Trump of Organizing Assassination Attempt Against Him
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused former U.S. President Donald Trump of orchestrating an assassination attempt against him during a celebration marking the 86th anniversary of the Venezuelan National Guard. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The assassination attempt using drones occurred in August 2018. Several explosive-laden flying devices approached the podium where Maduro was located during the parade. A number of guards were injured, but the state leader was unharmed.
“Several years later, it became clear about the personal and direct responsibility of former President Donald Trump, the White House, and members of Donald Trump’s administration, who ordered the President of Colombia to prepare the assassination attempt,” said Maduro.
As noted by the Venezuelan president, former Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos stated a few days before the assassination attempt that Venezuela would soon experience a collapse and a regime change.
