Russian Diplomats to be in Syunik for Consulate Opening in September
Russian diplomats will arrive in Armenia in September to organize the opening of the Russian consulate in the city of Kapan, Syunik Province. This was stated by Denis Gonchar, head of the fourth department of the Russian Foreign Ministry responsible for CIS countries, in an interview with TASS.
“We are actively preparing for the opening of the Russian consulate in liaison format in the city of Kapan in Syunik Province. This initiative was approved by the leaders of our countries during their meeting in Moscow on May 25. In September, Russian diplomats will visit the region to address operational issues on-site,” the Russian diplomat noted.
He also added that a close diplomatic cooperation has been established between Moscow and Yerevan within the frameworks of CSTO, EEU, and CIS, as well as various international platforms, primarily the UN.
It is noteworthy that on May 28, it was announced that the Russian Federation would open a consulate in Syunik Province. During the May 25 meeting in Moscow between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Vladimir Putin, the Armenian side approved the opening of the Russian consulate in Syunik.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the Islamic Republic of Iran also has a consulate in Kapan.
