Part of Wagner Group Approaches Lithuania's Border, President Says

A portion of Russian "Wagner" group militants has approached Lithuania's border, seizing positions in Belarus's Grodno region, stated President Gitanas Nausėda during a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Suwalki, as reported by Lithuanian LRT media.

"This situation is very favorable for organizing provocations at both the Polish-Belarusian and Lithuanian-Belarusian borders," emphasized the head of state, labeling the presence of Russian mercenaries in Belarus as an "additional and very significant factor of security risk." According to Nausėda, the number of Wagner militants in Belarus is "already exceeding or close to" 4,000, and there are concerns that it could reach 10,000, DW reports.
