Over 1.2 Million Evacuated in China
In the northern Hebei province of China, 1.23 million people have been evacuated due to heavy rainfall. Among them, 857,200 are residents from areas designated for the collection and retention of floodwaters, local authorities have reported.
The 'Doksuri' typhoon caused the torrential rains that have been pouring across much of the province since July 27, with average precipitation exceeding 146 mm, according to Xinhua.
So far, more than 4,700 rescue teams, consisting of over 100,000 people, have been deployed in the province to assist with rescue operations and the elimination of the consequences of the natural disaster.
