New Armenian Ambassador to Be Appointed in Russia

New Armenian Ambassador to Be Appointed in Russia

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that a restart seems necessary in Armenia-Russia relations, and both sides are aware of this, deciding to take certain steps. One of the first steps is the change of ambassadors. Moreover, the Russian side has expressed significant dissatisfaction with the current Armenian ambassador, making this an urgent issue that needs to be resolved.

The replacement of Vagharshak Harutyunyan has been under discussion for quite some time, but finding suitable candidates for the ambassadorial position has proven challenging. The candidate must be someone who enjoys Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s confidence while also being acceptable to the Russian authorities.

According to the newspaper's information, several candidates have been discussed, and the Armenian side seems to have settled on MP Gurgen Arsenyan. The candidate for the position of Ambassador to Russia, according to recent reports, is a high-ranking official from the Russian Foreign Ministry, indicating that Russia understands the importance of Armenia and its cooperation.
