Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Pashinyan's Statements
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has responded to the statements made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during today's government meeting.
According to the Ministry, the Prime Minister is attempting to mislead the international community once again regarding the operation of the Lachin border checkpoint, territorial integrity, and delimitation issues. They insisted that the Lachin checkpoint is not closed.
The Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry further stated, “If the Armenian side is genuinely interested in peace and stability in the region, and if it supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty—not only in words but also in actions, it should refrain from such provocative steps and support the usage of the Aghdam-Khankendi (Stepanakert) road and other alternative routes to involve Armenian residents. The Armenian side should also not obstruct Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at the reintegration of Armenian residents.”
It is noteworthy that on July 29, Azerbaijani border guards abducted Vagif Khachatryan from a vehicle of the International Committee of the Red Cross. He was being transferred from Artsakh to Armenia to receive medical assistance.
