What is Pashinyan's Main Mistake According to EAEU Institute Director Vladimir Lepekhin
Pashinyan's main mistake is that he went down the wrong path. There is no point in negotiating with the Europeans, who guarantee nothing. Are they going to send NATO troops against Azerbaijan and Turkey? This was stated by Vladimir Lepekhin, director of the EAEU Institute, in an interview with Novosti Armenii.
The mechanism is simple: 'If the Armenian side has lost the war, no one will negotiate with them. They will pretend to negotiate, but those agreements will be violated anyway. Turkey's position is behind Azerbaijan, and NATO's is behind Turkey. And who is behind Armenia, behind Pashinyan? The same British intelligence that supports Turkey, not Pashinyan,' the political scientist emphasized.
He expressed confidence that no agreements will be reached, expansion will continue, and no one will listen to Pashinyan. 'He had the opportunity to sign a new military agreement with Russia within the framework of the CSTO when Russian peacekeepers entered Nagorno-Karabakh. He should have worked in this direction, and at that time Russian peacekeepers would have provided some guarantees, which Pashinyan could have relied on. However, he did everything to discredit the CSTO, did not fully converse with Russia, but went to Brussels hoping that someone there would guarantee the fulfillment of his agreements with Aliyev. It is known that since 1994, no one in Brussels has guaranteed anything to Armenia. Only Armenia's strength has guaranteed the preservation of borders since 1994, and when Armenia was unable to withstand Azerbaijan and Turkey, no one would speak to Pashinyan, they would only pretend to negotiate. A deadlock has emerged.'
‘Now Azerbaijani lobbyists are actively working in Russia, while Armenian lobbyists are not. Therefore, some Russian leaders are increasingly leaning toward Azerbaijan,’ Lepekhin emphasized.
