Poland's Foreign Ministry Reports Deterioration of Relations with Ukraine

Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski has announced a deterioration in relations between Warsaw and Kyiv amid a backdrop of diplomatic scandal following mutual statements from representatives of both countries. This was reported by the "RIA Novosti" agency.

On July 31, the Polish ambassador was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry after Marcin Przydacz, a minister in the Polish president's office, stated that Kyiv had been ungrateful for Warsaw's assistance.

According to the Ukrainian publication "Evropeiska Pravda," Przydacz had mentioned in an interview with Polish media that Kyiv had received substantial support from Warsaw and that Ukraine should start appreciating the role Poland has played for it over the past months and years.

Later, Poland's Foreign Ministry reported that the acting Ukrainian ambassador was summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry due to statements made by Ukrainian authorities. "The conversation will, as always, be candid and substantive. We will present our assessment of what our relations are today, and unfortunately, they are not at their best lately due to statements from several representatives of the Ukrainian authorities. No one hides this. This is due to the fact that, unfortunately, certain emotions have emerged there (in Ukraine). We approach this with understanding... but one cannot assess their allies this way," Jablonski stated during an interview on RMF FM radio.

"There are issues where we have not reached mutual understanding. We are guided by the politics of national interests. We help only to the extent that it aligns with our national interests," he added.
