Operational Center of EU Observational Mission Opens in Kapan, Armenia
The operational center of the EU observational mission has opened in Kapan, Armenia.
In his speech, Markus Ritter, the head of the EU mission in Armenia, expressed happiness about the opening of the first operational base in Kapan. He stated, “According to our plan for the European Union mission, we aim to have six operational bases in Armenia, and we are almost one step closer to realizing our plans. When we started our work in Armenia in 2023, we had only two permanent staff members.”
After Kapan, they plan to open centers in Ijevan and Yeghenyadzor as well.
The Governor of Syunik, Robert Ghukasyan, emphasized the importance of the center's opening. “It is connected to the events taking place in border communities. I thank the EU observational mission. The presence of the observational mission will have a significant deterrent effect along the border and can also bring stability to Kapan. I have great hopes that the observational mission will fulfill its role as expected by the local population, and the results will not keep us waiting,” he said.
