Mass Resignation Applications at Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation Enterprise

Recently, ArmLur.am sent an official inquiry to the Yerevan municipality to understand why the vehicles of the "Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation" enterprise are in disrepair and how much money has been spent on servicing the trucks. They also inquired about the specific expenditures and indicated that they had information suggesting that the oil in the vehicles had not been changed in a timely manner, and when changed, substandard oils were used. Additionally, the routine technical inspections of the vehicles had not been completed on time, resulting in the engines being in malfunctioning condition.

This was reported by the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper.

The Yerevan municipality responded, stating: "The Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation community enterprise spent 483,580,645 AMD in 2022 for servicing the trucks. The funds were utilized as needed for purchasing various auto parts, including oils (71,379,722 AMD), spare parts (122,244,525 AMD), repair services (285,693,880 AMD), and other materials (4,262,518 AMD). We inform you that the vehicles of the enterprise underwent routine inspections within the established deadlines, and the oils were procured through an electronic auction, where the supplier presenting the lowest price in accordance with the technical specifications was recognized as the winning participant."

The site has also received numerous complaints that the director of the "Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation" enterprise, Bagrat Aghajanyan, is known for his behavior of violence, insults, forced overtime work without pay, which has resulted in mass resignation applications from employees of the enterprise. Many have refrained from submitting resignation applications out of fear of being subjected to violence and are simply not attending work.

Regarding what information the municipality has on this matter, the working atmosphere at the "Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation" enterprise, and why employees are submitting resignation applications, the municipality replied:

"The unfounded information circulated against the director B. Aghajanyan regarding the atmosphere of fear in the enterprise and forcing employees to work without additional payment do not correspond to reality. We also note that the director has never exerted physical force against employees, and overtime work has been compensated. B. Aghajanyan acts in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, the charter of the enterprise, and the instructions given by the founder and the authorized body."

This was reported by the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper.
