Japan Expands Sanctions Against Russia
The Ministry of Economy of Japan has announced that, according to a new package of sanctions, Tokyo has expanded the list of prohibited goods for export to the Russian Federation to 758 items. This information has been reported on the ministry's website.
The ministry emphasizes that the ban comes into effect on August 9. The restrictions apply to photographic and filming materials, as well as used clothing. Additionally, Russia will be prohibited from importing products from the chemical industry, plastics, rubber, and goods made from these materials, such as large vehicle tires, as well as electrical products, locomotives, and railway wagons.
The ministry has also prohibited the import of wood and wooden products, paper and cardboard, drawings and diagrams, stone, gypsum, cement, wool from sheep and other animals, cotton, and cotton products from the Russian Federation. The sanctions list also includes metals such as copper, nickel, aluminum, lead, zinc, tin, and products made from non-precious metals.
Previously, Hirokazu Matsuno, the chief cabinet secretary of Japan, stated that the Japanese government has not yet approved plans to ban the export of new and used vehicles with an engine volume exceeding 1.9 liters to Russia.
