The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran showcased new ships equipped with 600-kilometer range missiles during drills that began on August 2. This was reported by Tasnim news agency.
The exercises commenced in the waters around Abu Musa Island in the Persian Gulf, an area that several Arab countries dispute Iran's territorial claims over.
The commander of the IRGC's naval forces stated that the special operations vessels are armed with long-range missiles for the first time, aimed at ensuring the security of Abu Musa and other Iranian islands.
