Do You Lose Sleep Over What Happened to Your Country? Euronews Questions Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has given an interview to Euronews. Below is a segment from the Q&A.
Euronews: Do you lose sleep over what happened to your country? The thought of so many military and civilian casualties is troubling you, isn't it?
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan: Obviously, and of course, it's not that I think about it a lot, but it's very difficult to set those thoughts aside for a moment and just focus on daily work.
Euronews: Do you have a message for the other side, not for the political leaders you meet in negotiations, but for the people of Azerbaijan? Do you have a message for those who may be watching us right now?
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan: You know, I think that is not a good genre, because when two politicians speak to each other, they are essentially speaking to two nations, because on one side speaks the elected representative of that people, and on this side speaks the elected representative of this people. Therefore, what we discuss, of course, is on an international platform, it is also directed at that people, but if there is anything to say, it can be summarized in what I have been saying since the very first moment: it was also directed to the people of Azerbaijan. In such cases, there are routine phrases—it's said that we have lived here for a long time and will continue to live here for a long time, I believe all words are spoken. By the way, there is perhaps one thing that is equally directed to both the Armenian and Azerbaijani public, because both the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples must demand peace from their authorities. This must be formulated as a public demand and requires peace, flexibility, and skill to achieve that demand.
