Video: 11 Dead Due to Rains in Beijing, Missing Persons Reported
In the 13 districts of Beijing, 44,673 people have been affected by heavy rains, leading to 11 fatalities, as reported by the local flood prevention administration, according to kommersant.ru.
“Another 27 people are considered missing, with connections lost with four of them during rescue operations,” the agency noted.
A total of 127,000 residents have been evacuated from the city's vulnerable areas while the threat of flooding persists.
The capital of China is under a “red” alert level due to typhoon and flooding risks. Authorities have warned of potential landslides and mudslides. Citizens have been advised to stay away from rivers.
Reports indicate that over 500 mm of rain has fallen in some parts of Beijing. Meanwhile, forecasters are warning that another storm is approaching the Chinese capital.
