Turkey announces the creation of the first 'smart' long-range explosive
Turkey has designed the world's first 'smart' long-range UCA mine that can create an 'unexpected effect' on the enemy. This was reported by the local Star newspaper.
According to the report, 'Developed entirely with domestic and national resources, the UCA aims to claim the title of the world's first smart long-range mine.'
The UCA can be transported by Turkey's F-16 fighter jets and Akinci and Aksungur drones. The mine can be dropped from high altitudes, making it invulnerable to some air defense systems. Once in the water, it will find the right location below and wait for the targeted ship, making it also difficult to 'catch' underwater.
The developers aim to transform the MK-84 general-purpose aerial bomb into an offensive naval mine. Therefore, the UCA features a winged guidance kit, a smart device for target detection, and a launcher. The development processes are expected to be completed in the near future, with testing set to begin later this year.
