Power's Statement on the Lachin Corridor
The lack of food security and shortages of medication in Nagorno-Karabakh are raising significant concerns. This was noted by Samantha Power, the head of the U.S. Agency for International Development, in her Twitter post.
She presented a recent statement by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who expressed deep concerns regarding the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Power emphasized that the Lachin Corridor is crucial for providing essential goods to the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. "I join Antony Blinken's call for the free transit of commercial and humanitarian cargo through the corridor," the agency head wrote.
It is worth noting that on July 31, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated in a press briefing that the U.S. continues to believe in the possibility of a peace agreement. He highlighted that both parties, Yerevan and Baku, need to make difficult compromises for this to materialize, and Blinken is personally involved in the negotiation process to encourage leaders to reach a peace agreement.
