Georgia to Lose 1 Billion Dollars if It Completely Bans Russian Tourists
Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the ruling party 'Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia', stated in a press briefing that Georgia's economy could lose up to 1 billion dollars annually if the country fully bans the entry of Russian tourists. This was reported by TASS.
Kobakhidze highlighted that Georgia's economy amounts to 30 billion dollars, meaning that an annual loss of around 1 billion dollars could result in the loss of 20,000 to 30,000 jobs.
It is noteworthy that on July 27, the Russian cruise ship Astoria Grande arrived at the Georgian port of Batumi, carrying Russian nationals. Protests began in the city. During clashes with the police late on July 31, several protesters were detained. Subsequently, it was revealed that the Astoria Grande would no longer dock in Batumi.
