VIDEO: Strong Explosion at Pyrotechnics Warehouse in Thailand, Casualties Reported
An explosion has occurred at a pyrotechnics warehouse in the city of Sungai Kolok, Thailand. Thai PBS reports that authorities in Narathiwat province have confirmed that nine people have died, and 115 have been injured, with 113 admitted to local hospitals in critical condition.
Preliminary reports indicate that a welder was working at the warehouse when sparks from the welding machine ignited fireworks, leading to the explosion.
According to Thai PBS, the shockwave from the blast has affected a market, shopping center, and 150 houses, several of which have been completely destroyed.
The portal reports that tents have been set up in the city to provide first aid to the victims. It is expected that 500 to 800 people will be temporarily accommodated in a sports center building in the Muno sub-district of Sungai Kolok. Food and drinking water will be provided to those affected.
