Termites Eat 87,000 Dollar Savings of Malaysian Grandmother

Termites have devoured the savings of a Malaysian grandmother, totaling $8,700. The incident began when the elderly woman decided to store all her savings in a cardboard box.

The woman had spent years collecting this amount and had plans to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca in 2024, but the insects had other plans for her money. The grandmother's grandson took half of the damaged banknotes to the Central Bank of Malaysia in hopes of replacing them, but most of the money could not be salvaged.
