European Parliament member Charlie Weimers has called on the EU to exert pressure on Azerbaijan to allow humanitarian aid to enter Artsakh.

In an interview with Armenpress in Brussels, Weimers referred to the statement made by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and raised a follow-up question.

“So what is ‘preventing’ the passage of the Lachin Corridor, Mr. Borel? It is not a rock or some natural force, it is the Azerbaijani authorities themselves who are obstructing the passage of humanitarian aid. This is not about ‘any party’ or ‘both sides’ as we have often heard in the past, but Azerbaijan, which is using humanitarian access for its own purposes,” said Charlie Weimers, adding that his thoughts are with the people of Artsakh.
