Azerbaijan in Hysteria Again: Emotional Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has accused Armenia of failing to reconcile with Azerbaijan's control over its borders and the operation of the Lachin border checkpoint, which was created to prevent Armenian provocations. The statement reads: “Armenia, unable to come to terms with the operation of the Lachin border checkpoint, has sent columns of vehicles into Azerbaijan's sovereign territory without coordinating with us.”
In the widely circulated message, the ministry claims that the humanitarian cargo displayed in front of dozens of international diplomats is merely a “pretext” to infringe upon Azerbaijan’s fabricated territorial integrity and sovereignty. The statement specifically mentions: “Such actions by the Armenian side, immediately following the negotiations in Moscow, including detailed discussions regarding the current situation, testify to this country's insincerity in the process, its intent to escalate the situation, and to mislead the international community. This provocation once again demonstrates that Armenia’s claims of a ‘humanitarian crisis in the region’ are nothing more than manipulations and an intention to continue illegal activities.”
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry continues to propagate false statements regarding proposals put forth by the Azerbaijani side to address the needs of Armenian residents, which are allegedly supported by the European Union and the International Committee of the Red Cross. These proposals include the use of the Aghdam-Stepanakert road, among others. It is noted that Armenia opposes all alternative suggestions and independently obstructs relevant humanitarian actions.
The Ministry has labeled the transportation of humanitarian aid for thousands of residents at risk of starvation as “political blackmail,” adding that Armenia has also turned the EU mission in Armenia and the diplomatic corps into tools in this provocation.
