Video: Russian Fighter Jet Strikes American Drone in Syria, U.S. Commander Says

In the skies over Syria, a Russian fighter jet has shot down an American drone. This was announced by the commander of the U.S. Ninth Air Force, Lieutenant General Alexus Gremkevich.

“On July 23, 2023… a Russian fighter approached the American MQ-9 drone dangerously… launching flares… One of the Russian missiles struck the American MQ-9, seriously damaging its engine,” Gremkevich's statement, cited by the U.S. Air Force Central Command, read.

It was noted that the drone has been returned to a U.S. military base.
