Ruben Vardanyan: "Clear Actions Must Be Taken to Overcome This Situation"

The crisis in Artsakh is intensifying hour by hour. To overcome this situation, clear actions must be taken. This was stated by former Prime Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Ruben Vardanyan, on his Facebook page.

He also noted:

1. The launch of a humanitarian air corridor is of primary importance. Humanitarian missions from the UN or other international organizations must be able to reach Stepanakert directly to provide aid.
2. As soon as possible, a fact-finding mission from the UN or another international body (such as the PACE or EU) should be sent to Artsakh. Direct observation of the situation on-site will allow for a clearer understanding of the seriousness of the crisis.
3. International mediators—from Washington to Paris and Moscow—must exert pressure on Azerbaijan to bring about change. If they do not take action, their mediating efforts will be futile.
4. The Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh should receive an official UN mandate. The UN may also explore options for expanding the peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, such as involving a Chinese peacekeeping contingent.
5. It is extremely important to understand that despite the loud discussions regarding the humanitarian aspects of the crisis, the existing issues have political and historical foundations. State-level propaganda of hatred against Armenians is a crucial pillar of Aliyev's authoritarian regime. This fact cannot be ignored.
6. World-renowned and influential Armenians, along with our foreign friends, can play a significant role in raising awareness about the unfolding tragedy in Artsakh. Friends, help amplify the voices of Armenians in Artsakh. Only through united efforts and standing side by side can we overcome this historically complex phase. Artsakh is an inseparable part of the Armenian world; this land is a component of our genetic code, and therefore this struggle belongs to us all.
